Sex at First Sight / Audiobook

Understanding the Modern Hookup Culture

This book takes a hard look at what is currently taking place sexually among college students. A new attitude towards sex has evolved and is profoundly affecting young people in a destructive way.

College students are “hooking up” on a regular basis. In most colleges today, sex has become another form of recreation that you fit into your schedule, like studying or exercising.

Sex at First Sight explains how the hookup has come into being, how pornography is a major factor influencing a student’s view of sex, and how this new perspective on sexuality is impacting the lives and future sex lives of this generation of young people.

The book ends by examining God’s design for sexuality. Our souls have a deep longing to belong and be accepted. To have soul oneness. This is why God created sex. It is the means of expressing and achieving complete life unity between a man and a woman in the covenant relationship of marriage.

This book is perfect for parents of teens and college students, youth ministers, and students themselves.

Another well researched and enlightening book by Richard E. Simmons, III. This is a different type book for Simmons, whose previous books have been incredibly well received by men looking to strengthen their relationship with the Lord. In Sex at First Sight we are exposed to what is happening on our college campuses and in our high schools regarding the sexuality of students – and how it’s affecting our future. There truly is a culture that lives on our campuses where sex has been downgraded to just another act of our day. Simmons explains the devastating circumstances that this way of thinking brings forward and tells us Gods true design for our sexuality. This read, while sometimes tough to take in due to some of the shocking statistics, is an absolute must read for parents who have kids this age. It’s a very quick read that will not only open your eyes to what’s happening, but also provide the tools to know how to handle your own child’s situations. Give a copy to your loved ones and certainly to your Youth Minister!
