After college George began his career in the pharmaceutical Industry with Roche Labs and also Merck & Company. During those 5 years in the business world he sensed an ever-increasing pull to enter full-time ministry. One verse in particular that George could never keep at bay can be found in Luke 9:62 which says, “any man having put his hand to the plow and then turning back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.”
In 1996 George and his wife Jill did in fact “put their hand to the plow” by moving to Jackson, Mississippi where George earned his Master’s of Divinity Degree. Since then the Shamblins have served in a number of ministry capacities, but George will be quick to remind you that his ministry has been defined as much by the setbacks as by the advances. However the comfort for him as well as for those to whom he ministers can be found in Jesus’ words, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
