What We Do
One-on-One Bible Study
The Investigative Bible Study is a one-on-one discussion with a member of the CFEL team that focuses on the basic need for Christianity in a fallen world. The sessions occur at the pace and time most convenient for the participant and the leader. All meetings are held at The Center for Executive Leadership.
The format provides a structure of study that is reflective, intentional and focused. The objective is to allow the Holy Spirit to impact the participant to recognize the need for Christ in their life.
The study encompasses 6-10 weeks and includes the following topics:
- Where am I?
- Finding Purpose in Life.
- The Search for Happiness – Why it is so elusive?
- The Heart of Christianity.
- Open discussion of application of these issues in one’s life.
In addition to these topics, the participant receives free access to previous presentations in CD format that supports the topic. The sessions will provide an increased understanding of the Bible and its significance to the Christian faith.
Group Bible Studies
Weekly Bible studies meet at the Center for Executive Leadership at a variety of times during the week. The studies take slightly different formats depending on the leader.
STUDIES LED BY RICHARD SIMMONS
Richard Simmons is currently teaching a discipleship training curriculum to 6 groups of at least 10 men, 6 days a week. In the past, he has taught on a variety of subjects including wisdom, reconciliation, contentment, pluralism, success and struggles. At times, the groups will read a Christian book relative to a topic or pressing issue. His approach is structured and methodical, reflecting his style of presentation and teaching that resonates with businessmen. The group is composed of men in various stages of life who typically attend on the day most convenient to them.
STUDIES LED BY TODD LISCOMB
Todd Liscomb is currently teaching four Bible studies during the week. Past topics of study have included money and the Bible, prayer, Old Testament review, and the fruit of the Spirit. Gospel of Mark, Philippians, Ephesians, James, 1 Peter, 1 John and Acts. For the coming year, study topics will include Titus (4 weeks), Jesus in Genesis (8 weeks), Advent (4 weeks), Hebrews (11 weeks), the Resurrection (3 weeks) and Galatians (7 weeks). His approach is also structured but weighs heavily on life application and the involvement and participation of the participants. Though he provides the topic for discussion, use of Scripture as the basis for contemplation and discussion is paramount to the depth and significance of the study. The average participant is a member of a local church who is learning how to apply Biblical truth to life.
The groups are composed of men in different stages of life as follows:
- The Seekers – Men in 20’s and 30’s
- The Knights – Men in 40’s and 50’s
- The Statesmen – Men in 60’s, 70’s and 80’s
